Meet the Doula
My journey to becoming a doula started all the way back in 2003, I just didn’t know it at the time. After enduring a year’s worth of infertility treatment, followed by a year-long IVF process, our beautiful twins arrived in 2005. My struggle instilled a deep sense of empathy in me for all families dealing with infertility. Several years later, a friend was going through a third round of IVF and was starting to contemplate surrogacy. I decided I was going to help her if need be.
Fortunately, she conceived, but the mere thought of becoming a surrogate inspired me to pursue that avenue to help another family. After a few years of research, I decided to become a surrogate. I was so moved by the experience, I did it twice! Both surrogacies produced a set of twins for two separate families! I love seeing the kids grow up, and they will be a part of our family forever. Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the experience was the overwhelming joy I experienced watching the parents see their kids for the first time. I wanted to experience that over and over. That feeling has inspired and driven me to become a doula. I want to do my part to help empower women with the knowledge and confidence that comes with any birth process.
